will present an inspirational talk titled–
Our Christly Mission: both individual and collective.
In the 1960s, when Daystar first opened, Flamingo Road was a bumpy two lane road providing a way for orange grove trucks to travel north and south. The Christian Science nurses were single and living some distance from the facility. In the early 1980s, apartments were built which provided small subsidized housing on campus.
Today, the area surrounding Daystar has developed and Flamingo Road is now a busy six lane corridor. Another change– our Christian Science nurses have families. It became apparent that housing is a key element in obtaining and retaining a full Christian Science nursing staff. That realization prayerfully led the Daystar Board to adopt a housing expansion plan. They also pledged that there will be no debt at the conclusion of the project. In appreciation of the Christian Science Nurses who carry forward their ministry in this facility, three new duplexes, consisting of four units each 3 bed/2 bath, and two units each 2 bed/2 bath, will be built on the south side of the property. The original apartments are being renovated by combining two single apartments to create a 2 bed/2 bath unit.
