To provide and promote Christian Science visiting nurse care, embracing an individual’s reliance on Christian Science for healing.

Charges

• Home visit rates $25 per hour in 1/4 hour increments, with a minimum charge of $50
• First hour $50 includes travel expense
• Supplies billed at cost
• Health insurance – some policies cover care provided by a Journal-listed Christian Science visiting nurse.
• Benevolence available

The length of the nurse’s visit may be flexible when meeting an immediate need, but usually the nurse’s stay does not exceed two hours. Mother and infant care cases may exceed this timeframe but must be arranged in advance. For other cases, if longer service is required and home care remains appropriate, the nurse may assist in arranging for a private duty Christian Science nurse or aide. A nurse is available seven days a week.

Services

Christian Science nurses, having a demonstrable knowledge of Christian Science practice, quietly and expectantly support spiritual healing while assisting to meet the human need. Such assistance may include:

• Reading aloud the Bible, Mrs. Eddy’s writings, and Christian Science literature
• Telephone consultation
• Mother and infant care
• Practitioner contact if the patient is unable to do so
• Cleaning and bandaging wounds
• Mobility assistance
• Personal and bed care, such as assisting with baths, shampoos, oral care, toileting and nail care
• Teaching simple, practical ways to care for oneself or a family member including special food preparation
• Assistance in arranging further care when appropriate, such as a private duty nurse or a stay in a facility
• Emergency Care
